Ascent Fitness is a body-positive, inclusive gym in Tacoma, WA. We make strength and movement accessible for all bodies — especially women, LGBTQ+ folks, and other underrepresented populations in strength and conditioning. We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, fat, and LGBTQ+ trainees.
Role Overview
As a Coaching Intern, you’ll support our coaching team while gaining hands-on experience leading classes, assisting members, and learning how to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering fitness environment. This role is ideal for someone interested in developing coaching skills in a body-positive and community-focused space.

Responsibilities
- Assist lead coaches during group classes and 1:1 sessions.
- Observe and learn coaching strategies, scaling, and inclusive movement practices.
- Support members with equipment setup and movement guidance under supervision.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming gym environment.
- Participate in team meetings and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications
- Interest in fitness, movement, or personal training.
- Open to learning and receiving feedback.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred (can be obtained during internship).
- Commitment to inclusive, body-positive coaching.

- Part-time, flexible schedule (early mornings possible).
- This is a paid or stipend-based internship (depending on experience and hours).
- On-site in Tacoma, WA.
