Our signature Empower class is body positive and designed to help you build the strength and confidence needed to feel good and enjoy your daily and recreational activities. In just 50 minutes our coaches will guide you through a warm up, skill practice and an appropriately challenging workout that helps you make progress toward your goals while having fun.
This is one of our member specialty clubs offered every fall and spring. The course is 12 weeks of powerlifting-focused classes. Classes are split into A/B weeks. Week A will include Deadlift and Press, Week B will include Squat and Bench. Classes are 75 minutes and follow Ascent’s typical class flow of warm up, strength training, and accessory exercises.
Practicing yoga has many physical and mental benefits – it can help to prevent injuries, and can improve our ability to rest and release stress. This class will consist of mindful breathing practices and a series of movements, some of which will be done standing. Chair poses will be offered for students who are not comfortable getting down and back up from the floor. This style of yoga offers ample space to work safely at your own pace, and to connect with your body.
Instructor: Emily Grantz (they/them) is a certified yoga teacher (RYT-200), who specializes in gentle classes that are accessible to folks of different sizes and abilities.
This is a self-directed time to do what you need to supplement your movement for the week. You are welcome to come in just to stretch on our soft floors, get some aerobic work on our bikes and row machines, practice a specific skill, or make up a workout from a class that week.
