Reflections on 5 Years of Ascent Fitness

The other day I received a card from a member sharing that Ascent Fitness and our coaches had saved their life. They shared that they had gone from being ashamed of their body and scared to move to seeking out new opportunities to move and challenge themselves.

I know that Ascent Fitness doesn’t touch everyone in such an impactful way, but we have made some large differences in people's lives!

I started Ascent Fitness because movement has always been an important part of my life and I wanted to share that with others. For me, movement is a time when I feel grounded, it's where I have made friends, and discovered my capabilities.

I have also experienced and witnessed doubt and exclusion in many sports and fitness spaces that keep people from participating or trying. Ascent Fitness seeks to be that place where people can find belief in their capabilities, where people can challenge themselves, grow stronger, and find enjoyable movement that feels authentic to them and their goals. I believe that all bodies can move for joy! Ascent is seeking to fulfill that vision by making movement and fitness accessible to more people and empowering them to move their body.

In the next 5 years I seek to expand on my vision by developing coaching systems that make movement even more accessible and inclusive. I hope to share these body affirming systems with gyms and coaches around the world so more people can learn to move with joy!
