Ascent is looking for a go- getter, who is ready to be a leader in the fitness industry and help us carry out our vision. The Head Coach and Program Manager position is great for someone who has demonstrated their coaching excellence and is ready to have a larger impact through programming and coach development.

The head coach must be creative, organized and a positive leader! Coaching is the primary role at Ascent and needs a leader ready to work with the CEO to fulfill our vision of empowering all folks to move with joy. The head coach must have a deep understanding of body mechanics, programming theory, and experience working in a HAES and Anti-Diet Culture. The head coach must have a proven ability to educate and lead others, and is seen as an expert in the field.

Roles and responsibilities:

Coaching:

  • Coach excellent classes and 1:1 sessions for members at all levels
  • Viewed as an expert in the field of fitness and movement
  • Leads by example

Programming

  • Create programming for group classes that are scalable, accessible and fun
  • Monitor curriculum for our Approach program (onramp) and other special courses
  • Develops fun and new ways to improve member engagement with movement
  • Monitors and helps personal trainers with client programming
  • Keeps our programming up to date with research and trends

Manage the team

  • Hire, onboard and train A+ coaches
  • Develop coaching systems, document and update SOPS 
  • Monitor and evaluate coach performance and development
  • Manage team certifications and continuing education
  • Run monthly team meetings
  • Create coaching schedule - Manage time off requests and sick coverage

Operations

  • Work with operations manager to make sure coaching supplies, equipment and facility needs are met
  • Responsible for increasing and maintaining attendance, retaining current clients and achieving monthly revenue goals.
  • Work with sales team and client services admin to ensure smooth transitions between services and member stages

Culture & Marketing

  • Ensure that programming and coaching are meeting the needs of our members with regular check ins and quarterly reviews
  • Monitor PRs and milestones for members; collect member stories and shout outs for Social media
  • Create educational materials for members and general audience via social media, blog and weekly newsletter

Responsibilities (what you’ll own)

  • Conversion rate % |Onramp to membership (who’s staying)
  • Team development |culture and performance
  • Training programs | product quality

Qualifications

  • 3 + years group and 1:1 coaching experience
  • 1 + years experience in supervisor or management role
  • Experience working in a HAES and Anti-Diet Culture
  • Current CPR and coaching certification or related degree

Details:

  • Full Time Position 30+ hours/ week
  • 15-20 hours of coaching (This is not a 9-5 job. Must be available to work some evenings, weekends and/or early mornings)
  • 10-15 hours of management and development 
  • Compensation [$50k-80k per year]
  • $30-$40 per hour with an opportunity to become a salary based position
  • Bonus earnings - for member and revenue growth; incentives determined quarterly
  • Paid time off 
  • 90% of job completed on site in Tacoma, WA - office space and computer provided
