The Power of Trees

Did you know that hospital patients with rooms overlooking trees recover faster than those without the same view? Connection to nature plays a vital role on our wellness!

We talked a few weeks ago about the healing powers of trees, and that feeling of walking through a calm, quiet forest. Research has found that exposure to green space can regulate heart rate, lower blood pressure, reduce aggressiveness, improve memory, and improve your immune system.

In addition to our health, trees also play an essential role in our local and global environment.

Trees help suck in and store harmful greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, and can help cool the planet to reduce the impacts of climate change. Further, scientists believe that planting trees is the cheapest way to pull CO2 out of the atmosphere and that there is room for 11.2 hecters of native trees to grow around the world.

Trees keep our ground water safe by acting as a filter and removing pollutants before water can be absorbed into the ground. Trees help prevent floods and landslides.

Trees help increase biodiversity by providing homes to many species. Trees can do a lot!

We believe the environment is an important pillar of wellness and we would like to start doing our part to support reforestation. Starting now we are partners of One Tree Planted and will plant a tree for every member every month. We will rotate which regions we donate to help support our air, water and wildlife around the world. To learn more check out @onetreeplanted.
